Kagami Biraki

Kagami Biraki is a Japanese traditional ceremony which literally translates to Opening the Mirror also know as the rice cutting ceremony. Today traditional karate like Kyokushin have adapted the celebration that officially kicks off the new year. A tradition of renewal, redirection and spirit. This is not a religious ceremony, however it is a time when students engage in a common endeavor to redirect ones spirit effort and discipline toward goals such as training. At Dallas Kyokushin Karate students will physically push to their limits in a part of sharing their renewed spirit At the end their will be a speech from the Sensei followed by food and drink. 2020 ceremony will be on Jan 12th.
